S/L Arthur Sandison served with 619Sqn during WW2 and was awarded the DFC.
In June or July 1945 just prior to joining 49 Squadron, he was Commanding Officer of Bomber Command Film Flight Unit based at Syerston.
In 1945 he was the 'B Flight' Commander with 49Sqn at RAF Mepal.
S/L Sandison is on the extreme RHS wearing the overcoat......a wet and cold Christmas in 1945 at RAF Mepal.

This page of his logbook shows that he was serving with 49Sqn during July 1945 and was involved with the return of PoWs from Italy (as well as other duties).
Athur Sandison went on to become a BOAC Captain and retired in 1973.....in front of a Boing 707.
