21st August 1934 arrived at 1 Wing Halton on the Aircraft Apprentice Scheme.

20th August 1937 to 49 (B) Squadron at Worthy Down, Winchester, Hampshire.

16th March 1938 to RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire.

During his time at RAF Scampton he attended several courses at the Handley Page works at Radlett in order to study the new Handley Page Hampden.

8th August 1939 he was posted to Headquarters Reserve Command.

RAF Reserve (later Home) Command was formed on 1 February 1939 and disbanded on 27 May 1940. Its principal task was to train and maintain the pre-service units for which the RAF was responsible It was also responsible for RAF Recruiting Centres throughout the UK and for the administration of many other RAF units.

9th October 1939 to 3 Initial Training Wing at Hastings.

21st October 1939 to 3 FTS (Flight Training School).

28th December 1939 to Central Flying School at RAF Upavon in Wiltshire.

4th June 1940 joined 10 Flight Training School at RAF Ternhill in Shropshire.

11th November 1940 he joined 32 FTS in Canada.........by 11th November 1941 he was a temporary Warrant Officer.

It is unclear when he entered aircrew training but he was killed on the 22nd November 1944 when the Mosquito he was piloting (DZ642  - 627 Sqn) ran out of fuel and crashed in the Shetland Islands.
