Sgt, later F/O, R J Hannan flew 17 Hampden operations with 49Sqn (mostly AD976 & X3057) before being posted to 207Sqn.

F/O Hannan was awarded the DFC in October 1941.

His Lancaster (R5694) hit high ground in bad visibility at Easton, Lincs, home-bound from Bad Zwischenahn (Vechta).

He is buried in St Mary's churchyard, Bottesford, Leicestershire.
