27th July 1918:
Crashed during a practice flight with Sgt R A Campbell whilst flying DH9 serial D7222.

23rd August 1918:
2/Lt Franks was wounded when his aircraft was hit by AA or enemy aircraft fire over Osterville near Busigny while attacking the railway station.
The DH9 (serial C6315) made a forced landing. His Observer, 2/Lt S P Scott was uninjured.

3rd September 1918:
A DH9 (serial E623) flown by 2/Lt Franks and Lt Dewhirst was attacked by enemy aircraft over Douai. The aircraft crash landed at 23 CCCS.....Canadian Casualty Clearing Station. Lt Dewhirst was wounded in the attack.
