Captain Fred Eltis and Andy Eltis (en-route Funchal - Southampton).

Today, Andy has a clear memory of the photograph being taken!

Additional information received from Andy:

Dad (Fred) was captain of Aquila Airways Solent flying boat G-AKNU which had just departed Southampton waters late on the 15th November 1957. A short while later it suffered an engine failure and was attempting to return to Southampton when it crashed into the Isle of Wight at 22:46. Two engines were stopped at the time of the crash. Waiting for him in Funchal Madeira were me, my mum Helga and sister Helen.
