Photographed by Malcolm Brooke

25th April 1944, MUNICH:

Nine Lancasters from the force failed to return from this raid on Munich; 49 Squadron had 11 return to base, 2 landed at Tangmere and 1 at Hartford Bridge. This left one aircraft unaccounted for. Tragically the lives of P/O Frank Clark and crew had been brought to a sudden and violent end in the night sky over Germany. They are buried together in a collective grave in Durnbach War Cemetery.
