On the 30th March 1945 F/Sgt Barker was posted from 5 LFS (Lancaster Finishing School) to 50 Squadron based at RAF Sturgate - for instructional duties.
On posting, F/Sgt Barker was promoted to P/O with Service Number: 199029
In September 1945 F/O Barker was posted from RAF Sturgate to RAF Burn which was used by No. 10 Air Crew Holding Unit RAF.

It is interesting to note that his NCO service number and the rank of Flight Lieutenant have been used on the label.
Mr. Barker passed away in March 2024 and his wife sometime before him. Neighbours said they couple didn’t have any children.
During the house clearance a ribbon was found and also an empty box for his Bomber Command Clasp.
Mr. Barker lived in the same village for over fifty years but nobody knew anything of his wartime experiences.
