Whilst attached to 14 OTU at Cottesmore, Sgt Pilot D. Barclay was sadly killed in a flying accident. The Hampden in which he was flying (P4313) crashed into high ground near the village of Laxey on the Isle of Man. Three members of the crew were killed; a fourth member survived though injured.
