When a ‘Cookie’ explodes aboard a Lanc, it does tend to render the aircraft unserviceable! The view the morning after (21/2/44) when P/O Frank Clarke’s ND498 failed to take off from Fiskerton bound for Stuttgart. Fortunately the crew escaped unscathed for now, but sadly the reaper would claim them over Munich just two months later. The resulting explosion scattered pieces of R-Roger well over a mile radius. The view is taken on the western side of the airfield looking east towards Cherry Willingham.
