Sgt Reid led a very eventful life with the following incidents being recorded.
30th August 1918:
In DH9 (serial D5716) they crashed at Izel le Hameau after water boiled at 10000ft and pilot became lost and dizzy on first bombing raid.
2Lt AJ Girardot Ok/SgtMech R Reid Ok
3rd September 1918:
The DH9 (serial E636) flown by 2/Lt L W D Peacock and Sgt R Reid was damaged by AA fire near Valenciennes and the mission was aborted.
Both crewmen were uninjured.
