After a two-day stand down, the squadron was again alerted for another Exodus operation. On Friday 4 May, 49 Squadron was detailed to fly to Melsham near Brussels, and return ex-PoW's to Wing near Leighton Buzzard. Take-off commenced at 14.50hrs, and 12 crews were on the flying programme. F/O Corley was one of the twelve crews.
