The war diary of Sgt W A Moore

Sgt W A Moore, who joined 49Sqn in May 1943, kept a war diary. His son, Stephen Moore, has kindly produced excerpts from this diary. Targets referred to in the text are highlighted in turquoise and references to members of the Squadron are highlighted in yellow.

The excerpts relating to the Peenmünde Raid (August 1943) and the comments of the Bishop of Chichester (February 1944) are particularly interesting.

Sgt W A Moore was commissioned in January 1944 and left the RAF in June 1946.
