The central bronze plaque is part of the original memorial. The wording on it reads :
“EN SOUVENIR DES HEROS DE LA R.A.F. QUI ONT PARTICIPE AU BOMBARDEMENT DU CAMP DE MAILLY LE 4 MAI 1944”.
49Squadron is mentioned as one of the Squadrons on the plaque.
