Wing Commander Alan Newitt, CO of 49 Squadron in the early 1950s died in Jersey in late 2010 aged 93. In this document he recalls two highly entertaining stories of an eccentric 'one handed' pilot with a passion for dropping hand grenades out of the cockpit and the story of an irate rhino escaping a bombing raid of Mau Mau hideouts. |
